Major Tier 1 European Service Provider Backhauls LTE Using RAD’s Service Assured Access Solution
RAD has confirmed that a major Tier 1 European service provider has deployed its Service Assured Access solution for backhauling 3G and LTE over the same Ethernet infrastructure. More than one million LTE subscribers are expected to be served by the network by the end of this year. The total deal is valued to reach more than several million dollars over the life of the project.
SAA is ideal for multi-generational mobile backhaul applications because it is equipped with a comprehensive service lifecycle toolkit that enables 3G and 4G mobile transport over the same RAN. This toolkit features service turn-up, traffic management, TDM pseudowire, ongoing performance monitoring, fault management, timing synchronization, and various resiliency mechanisms. IEEE 1588 Grandmaster clock and Sync-E technologies are used to distribute nanosecond-accurate time and frequency synchronization to hub sites throughout the network. Capabilities such as these, which go beyond MEF CE 2.0 requirements, guarantee a consistent user experience and service definition, over various backhaul infrastructures.
Over Ten Thousand Units to be Deployed
The RAD products being deployed by the Tier 1 service provider include over ten thousand units of the award-winning ETX-2 Advanced Carrier Ethernet Mobile Demarcation Device. In addition, the service provider will also soon be testing RAD’s unique MiNID Ethernet Demarcation SFP, a fully functional Service Assured Access Network Interface Device (NID) housed in a smart SFP enclosure.
