RAD Also Takes Home Carrier Ethernet Technology Award
Posted on Sep 24, 2026
Tel Aviv, RAD Chief Technology Officer Ron Insler, who has spent his career working at the frontier of connectivity, has been honored by Mplify as its Distinguished Fellow of the Year for 2026.
RAD was also named the winner of the NaaS Excellence Award for Carrier Ethernet Technology for its ETX-2i line of Carrier Edge solutions. The awards were announced during the 2026 GNE Member Summit in Boston. The Distinguished Fellow of the Year honors individuals who have provided a major contribution to the development, adoption, and impact of Mplify’s works.
Insler, who is also Head of Innovation Labs at RAD, has long been active in Mplify. He is co-editor of Mplify’s Class of Service for Subscriber and Operator Ethernet Services specification (W23.3), one of the specifications at the heart of Carrier Ethernet service quality and SLA assurance. He also actively contributes to Mplify’s Networking for AI certification program, which is translating a fast-moving set of requirements into something the wider industry can adopt. Beyond the standards work, Insler works directly with service provider CTOs and their teams, to help them deploy new services and move from the specification page into live networks.
“RAD is delighted that Ron Insler has been honored with this recognition, which he completely deserves” said Tuvia Segal, Vice President of Research and Development for RAD. “As head of our Innovation Labs, he sits where standards meet real deployments, researching emerging technologies and running proof-of-concept trials with design partners. His leadership in Carrier Ethernet technology development targets the connectivity that AI systems now depend on.”
Insler has been with RAD since 1990, and prior to his work with Mplify he co-authored IETF RFC 5087 TDMoIP, a revolutionary standard for delivering TDM traffic over packet networks using pseudowire encapsulation. He has been named a Broadband Forum Outstanding Contributor twice.
The award-winning ETX-2i Carrier Edge solution uniquely combines standards-based Carrier Ethernet, AI-native intelligence at the network’s edge, and NaaS enablement. By embedding real-time decision-making at the edge and enabling on-demand, SLA-assured service delivery, it ensures predictive, scalable, and high-performance connectivity.
“This prestigious award further validates RAD’s position as a leading Carrier Ethernet innovator,” said Segal. “We are honored to receive this accolade from the leading industry experts who made up the panel of judges.”
RAD was also a finalist in the AI Network Infrastructure Innovation category for its ETX-2i-400G, a 400G Carrier Ethernet demarcation platform.
