Jul 03, 2013

RAD, the international manufacturer of Service Assured Networking communications solutions for the power utility industry, has announced that it will be participating at UtiliNet Europe 2013, to be held July 2-5 in Brussels, Belgium. The theme of this year’s event is “Managing the Migration to IP/Ethernet to Facilitate the Smart Grid.”

“RAD provides public utilities with reliable multiservice connectivity for substations, offers reliable distance and differential Teleprotection communications solutions, builds core operational networks and enables secure, application-aware firewall tools for mission-critical data to ensure uninterrupted communications in the transmission network,” notes Mati Epstein, RAD’s Line of Business Head for Utilities. “In addition, we add security protection to all sites and IP SCADA traffic without increasing network complexity or cost,” he adds. “RAD’s extensive international experience, technical expertise and in-house engineering all combine to facilitate migration to next generation networks possible with minimal disruption.”

UtiliNet Europe is a unique forum that draws together utilities, technology manufacturers, telecom operators and engineering consultancies, to discuss the latest challenges and proven implementation strategies for migrating towards full IP/Ethernet in utility networks, particularly for time-critical protection services.

RAD’s utility customers include AES, Endesa, Enel, Eskom, Hydro Quebec, IEC, Kepco, Meralco, E-on, Elia, Nampower, National Grid USA, Novosibirsk Energo, Powercor, and Terna Italia.
