Fiber Optic Telephone Adapter

RAD's F-TEL fiber optic telephone adapter provides direct, secure fiber optic connection between a PBX and any handset or between two handsets, or any telephone set and a PBX. The F-TEL fiber optic telephone adapter is designed to operate with several grades and sizes of fiber optic cable. Use of fiber optic cabling provides secure connections, minimizing the possibility of wire tapping, as well as immunity to electrical interference such as EMI and RFI. The F-TEL fiber optic telephone adapter modem supports both DTMF and pulse dialing.

The F-TEL fiber optic telephone adapter enables telephone connection to a central office PBX over a fiber optic link. The fiber optic link secures voice communications and blocks tapping. Two models are available:

 

F-TEL/CO for direct connection to a central office PBX.

 

F-TEL/SUB for direct connection to a subscriber telephone set. The product supports both DTMF and pulse dialing.

 

The F-TEL fiber optic telephone adapter can operate over the common types of fiber optic cables. The adapter supports 850 nm, 1310 nm and 1550 nm optical interfaces. The laser options are used to extend the range up to 50 km (31 miles).

 

As a backup to the AC power supply, the F-TEL fiber optic telephone adapter can be powered by an optional NiCad rechargeable battery. Using the backup battery, the product provides better immunity against tapping.

 

The F-TEL fiber optic telephone adapter is available as a standalone unit. A special mechanical adapter can be used for mounting one unit or two units side-by-side in a 19" rack.
