Reliable and low cost voice, fax, and data communications is vital in providing information efficiency between remote mining locations and corporate head offices. Whether exploring a new mine in an isolated remote region, constructing a mine or a temporary camp, or dealing with an emergency situation, satellite communication provides instant, high quality communication.
To lower the cost of satellite communications to the mine site, RAD’s Vmux-110 remote site voice trunking gateway can be deployed to compress voice transmissions by 16:1. Vmux-110 voice trunking gateways employ TDM over IP technology to extend voice circuits and LAN services transparently over wireless networks or satellite uplinks, eliminating the need for expensive E1/T1 leased lines between mining sites.
Vmux-110 support up to eight FXS or FXO voice ports, transmitting them over n x 64 kbps or IP uplinks. Compression is accomplished according to G.723, G.729 and G.711 standards. Silence suppression and voice activity detection enable dynamic bandwidth allocation, leaving more bandwidth for data transport.
