While satellite communications has numerous advantages for enterprises seeking reliable voice communication with remotely located offices, work sites and factories, the costs involved and limited amount of available bandwidth can make this option impractical.
To reduce expenditures and optimize bandwidth usage, RAD’s Vmux-2100 voice trunking gateway can be deployed to provide 16:1 voice compression over both TDM and IP-based networks. Suitable for large corporate headquarters, the Vmux-2100 employs powerful voice compression algorithms as well as TDMoIP technology, compressing 16 full E1/T1 circuits over a single E1/T1. The traffic compressed by RAD’s Vmux-2100 is then efficiently carried between the office headquarters and remote sites over an IP satellite link.
Depending on the size of the remote site, either the Vmux-110 voice trunking gateway or Vmux-210 channel bank can be deployed, transmitting up to 30 voice channels over only 128 kbps.
Transparent to all signaling protocols and LAN services, the Vmux products support all PBX functions. The Vmux devices converge Ethernet traffic and fax services along with voice over the same network link, bringing significant savings to the cost of running the network.
