A large variety of optical modules, as well as a coax interface, facilitate connection to other standard STM-1/OC-3 devices. RADview-Lite, RAD’s new RADview service package provides SNMP fault management, including SNMP traps, status polling and TFTP-based software and configuration download. Remote element management is available either through the ConfiguRAD Web-based application, or Telnet.
RIC-155 can be managed in-band, either locally, from the Fast Ethernet user port, or remotely, through the STM-1/OC-3 port. The device can also be managed out-of-band via the craft port or a dedicated 10/100BaseT port.
Management traffic and user Ethernet traffic are transported together on the same Ethernet flow, separated by different VLANs. Complete separation between user traffic and the management traffic ensures management and user traffic security.
The device collects Ethernet physical layer and STM-1/OC-3 statistics for monitoring the SDH/SONET connection and the Ethernet service. In cases of severe error conditions on the SDH/SONET interface, an optional fault propagation feature tears down the link integrity on the Ethernet port, indicating to the Ethernet network the error conditions on the TDM network, enabling connected routers to reroute the traffic.
The RIC-155 is a 1U-high, half 19-inch wide non-modular box with a rack mount option. It is available with an AC or DC power supply.
