RAD to Exhibit Smart T&D Connectivity Solutions at Smart Grids Europe 2012

Full Range of Communications Solutions for Substation Automation,
Tele-control and Protection and Secure Grid Automation

At Smart Grids Europe 2012, RAD Data Communications will be exhibiting a complete portfolio specifically designed to ensure reliable, uninterrupted and secure communications for Smart Grid backhaul, Smart City communications and legacy over packet switched networks (PSNs).

“RAD’s devices are purpose-built to help utility operators introduce next-generation grid connectivity while ensuring consistent and reliable performance for mission critical applications in either a TDM or packet-switched environment” explains Kobi Gol, Business Development and Solution Manager for Utilities at RAD Data Communications. “Our utility-grade Ethernet systems and multi-functional devices offer fail-safe and precise operation, with backward compatibility to support not only IEC 61850 IEDs and other IP communications devices, but also analog RTUs and Teleprotection relays – so that utilities can choose how and when to deploy their intelligent grid.

“Robust clock accuracy, Quality of Service assurance, resiliency, and on-going performance monitoring are required elements in any next-generation network being considered by utility network operators,” Gol notes. “That is why RAD has engineered its T&D connectivity solutions with the latest, standards-based toolset that provides such capabilities.”

The products that RAD will be exhibiting include the popular Megaplex-4100 Multiservice Access Node, the Megaplex-4104 Next Generation Multiservice Access Node, RADiFlow Secure Industrial Ethernet Switches, and the Airmux-5000 Broadband Wireless Radio.

Kobi Gol will participate in a panel discussion on ICT Deployment Scenarios and Strategies for the Smart Grid on Wednesday, October 10 at 12:00 PM. In addition, RADiFlow’s Ronen Ostri will speak on the Secure Compact Gateway for Smart Grid Substations on Tuesday, October 9 at 12:30 PM.

Smart Grids Europe will be held October 9-11 in Amsterdam.
