RAD Empowers Service Providers and End Users with REAL – Reliable, Economical, Accountable, and Limitless – Carrier Ethernet Access

Solutions Offering End-to-End Service Visibility and SLA Accountability Launched at Industry Conferences

During the Carrier Ethernet Services conference to be held April 7-9 in Vienna and at Ethernet Expo, which takes place in London April 14-16, RAD Data Communications will be unveiling its REAL Carrier Ethernet access solutions.

RAD's reliable, economical, accountable, and limitless (REAL) Carrier Ethernet access solutions are based on the company's EtherAccess product line of intelligent demarcation devices. REAL Carrier Ethernet access empowers service providers and their customers with the ability to deploy Ethernet services over any network infrastructure while offering end-to-end Ethernet measurement and performance mechanisms. "Service providers are now offering structured Ethernet service packages based on a mix of verifiable performance parameters," notes Ron Agam, Senior Product Line Manager for Metro Ethernet Access Solutions at RAD Data Communications. "These must be supported with the same user experience across a full gamut of diverse media: copper, DSL, fiber, and wireless."

RAD's EtherAccess® product line has been deployed, among others, by EMEA carriers such as Completel, Interroute, Telekom Austria, and Bezeq, as well as by North American carriers, including Canada's Telus.

A Mix of Applications

"The complexity of Ethernet service deployment is growing exponentially," explains Michael Howard, Chief Analyst at Infonetics Research. "Both end users and operators require clear visibility into network traffic patterns starting from the customer's access point, and operators have to be able to control this traffic to deliver on their Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for a mix of applications."

"When offering Ethernet services, it is important for carriers to be able to provide business customers with the same reach that they would otherwise enjoy over SDH/SONET and PDH," Agam concludes. "This is easily achieved when an Ethernet leased line can begin over DSL and terminate over fiber."
