Asia Premier of RAD’s vCPE Operating System and ETX-2v White Box Scheduled for CommunicAsia 2017

Meets Clear Carrier Demand to Separate Software from Hardware

RAD, the industry leader in virtualization at the network edge, has announced that the Asia premier of its vCPE-OS software, together with its ETX-2v white box, will take place at CommunicAsia 2017 in Singapore.

Part of RAD’s Service Assured Access (SAA) solution, vCPE-OS runs on any white box server and is also pre-loaded in RAD’s vCPE devices. These include the new ETX-2v vCPE white box platform, also introduced at CommunicAsia. In addition to featuring important networking capabilities, vCPE-OS hosts virtual network functions (VNFs) from any vendor. RAD’s vCPE-OS is interoperable with all open source management platforms, orchestrators and operations/business support systems (OSS/BSS).

“RAD’s vCPE-OS, together with the ETX-2v, offer a much-needed flexibility as the market moves from the proof-of-concept/testing stage to large deployments,” states RAD President and CEO Dror Bin. “We have now enhanced our vCPE solutions to meet service providers’ very diverse needs,” he adds. “Moreover, by releasing the OS as a standalone software we address the clear market requirement to separate software from hardware.”

The vCPE-OS also seamlessly manages pluggable physical network functions (pPNFs). These smart SFPs allow service providers to easily bridge access (xDSL, GPON, TDM, etc.) and operational gaps (L2 and L3 OAM, timing synchronization, etc.) in white boxes, as the IT-centric servers are transitioning to the carrier domain.

A Wealth of Options to Roll Out Virtualization Services

The ETX-2v joins RAD’s ETX-2i Whitebox+, a universal CPE (uCPE) with a pluggable x86 server module and hardware acceleration options. This extensive portfolio also enables complete management of hardware and software resources with rapid deployment of NFV-based services. Service providers are offered a wealth of options to roll out virtualization and software-based services in whatever manner best suits their business plans.

“For carriers introducing vCPEs to their networks, what is perhaps most compelling is that RAD is a one-stop shop, since our complementary vCPE toolbox delivers any service for any deployment scenario over any access infrastructure – fiber, copper or wireless,” Bin concludes.

RAD will be exhibiting throughout CommunicAsia 2017, which runs from May 23-26, at Stand 1H2-07.
