RAD Highlights Ethernet Ecosystem for Carriers and Utilities at Futurecom 2012

EtherAccess and AXCESS+ Assure Advanced, Profitable SLA-Assured Services and Enable Coexistence of Legacy and Next Gen Infrastructure

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, October 4, 2012 – RAD Data Communications, the worldwide leader in telecom access solutions, will showcase at Futurecom 2012 a set of Carrier Ethernet technologies that ensure carriers a significant reduction in operational and capital expenses (OpEx and CapEx).

RAD solutions enable carriers to provide highly profitable and popular SLA-managed offerings for the business and wholesale markets, as well as for converged networks and mobile services. Another growing focus for RAD technology is the public utilities market, including oil, energy, and highway and railway concessionaires seeking to evolve their communications networks in order to optimize their own operations and provide new intelligence-added services for their customers.

RAD access solutions are flexible and compact devices that streamline implementation projects of new next-generation networks while facilitating migration from legacy networks to Ethernet/IP technologies to better utilize existing infrastructure. With the support of RAD integrated solutions, carriers and utilities concessionaires can converge fixed and mobile networks from a small number of devices and maintenance points, reducing OpEx by leaving a smaller footprint at POPs and street cabinets and by consuming less than half the energy required by competitive products.

One-Stop Ethernet Access Shop
At its booth at Futurecom, RAD will showcase the components of two of its product families: EtherAccess and AXCESS+, which together respond to all the needs of Carrier Ethernet transport, as well as the implementation of Metro-LANs using fiber, wireless or copper physical connections. Due to the range and resiliency of its portfolio, RAD is recognized globally as a one-stop-shop in Ethernet access technology.

EtherAccess devices deliver and monitor Ethernet service offerings while ensuring autonomous management of SLA services to optimize the transition from legacy networks to next generation packet switched networks (PSNs) with comprehensive programming, management, reporting, alert, self-diagnosis, and fault tolerance capabilities. The latest component of RAD’s EtherAccess family is the ETX-5300A Ethernet service aggregation platform, which features high port density and supports rings up to 10GbE with a broad array of hierarchical management capabilities and a 1588 grandmaster clock.

The AXCESS+ family is comprised of RAD’s first mile multiservice access solutions. This ecosystem consists of a full range of customer-located equipment, central site devices and an integrated management system, facilitating TDM and Ethernet service extension over copper, fiber or wireless, as well as the coexistence of legacy and next-generation network infrastructures.

Featuring a wide range of multiservice multiplexers, cross connects, TDM NTUs, SDH ADMs, sub-rate multiplexers, fiber and SDH multiplexers, and inverse multiplexers, AXCESS+ supports a wealth of voice, video, high and low-rate data services, as well as new Ethernet applications, enabling a seamless migration to next generation communications. Included in this family of products are RAD’s flexible, modular Megaplex multiservice access nodes, which support both Ethernet and TDM to enable the integration of multiple voice, ISDN, video, data, and LAN services over multiple E1 links, Ethernet, STM-1/STM-4 uplinks, or n x 64 lines. Megaplex main links and user ports feature interfaces for copper, CSU/DSU and LTU devices, and fiber, and support smart standalone SHDSL.bis modems, as well as TDM/Ethernet network termination units.
