Migrate cellular backhaul to high-capacity Ethernet and MPLS packet transport networks over xDSL and fiber to reduce cellular backhaul operating expenses and deliver mobile broadband, HSPA and rich content services.
Our Solution
Migrate to packet-based cellular backhaul, and gain substantial savings in operating and capital expenses. Use RAD’s cell-site gateways (CSGs) and aggregation site gateways (ASGs) to connect base stations and NodeBs at one end and aggregating BSC and RNC traffic at the other end. RAD’s ACE-3220 and ACE-3105 multiservice cell-site gateways simultaneously deliver 2G and 3G services across Ethernet, IP or MPLS backbones, using pseudowire technology.
Benefits
Substantially boost bandwidth capacity to accommodate rollout of new cellular services and avoid the mobile broadband bottleneck
Leverage packet transport’s scalability and flexibility for an efficient service upgrade
Offset network expansion outlay and stagnant ARPU by curbing backhaul transport costs with cost-efficient PSN backbones, optimized transport efficiency, traffic grooming and overbooking, as well as 2G/3G collocation
Support for TDM/ATM/PSN infrastructure with the same gateways, to allow a gradual migration to all IP networks
Provide robust clock synchronization per ITU-T G.823 and G.824 specifications, and support Synchronous Ethernet and IEEE 1588v2 distribution protocols
Support SLA-based quality-of-service (QoS) and traffic prioritization per service
