An Intelligent Bridge between Ethernet and TDM
RAD’s RIC family of intelligent converters is used to bridge between the Yipes Ethernet network and the leased TDM lines. “RAD’s RIC products provide a reliable and cost effective means for extending our Ethernet service over leased lines in service areas beyond the reach of our network,” said Kamran Sistanizadeh, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Yipes. “We are continually working to expand our network and add POPs in strategic locations. At the same time, RAD's technology also allows us to meet the rapidly increasing demand for managed Ethernet services through leased-line connectivity.”
RAD’s RIC family of intelligent converters enables service providers to extend their Ethernet footprint by delivering transparent wire-speed Ethernet services over DS-3 or OC-3/STM-1 lines. They provide simple, efficient and cost-effective bridging of Ethernet with support for Q-in-Q VLAN tagging, QoS prioritization, simple set-up, and a full range of management capabilities and diagnostics. RAD is also currently testing a version for transport of Ethernet over OC-12 facilities.
RAD’s Ethernet Access Portfolio
The RIC family is part of RAD’s extensive portfolio of Ethernet access solutions. “RAD is at the forefront of delivering highly scalable and cost effective Ethernet access solutions,” said Oded Ilan, President of RAD Data Communications USA. RAD’s solution for Ethernet over DS-1, DS-3 and OC-3 includes the Egate, an aggregation device typically deployed in a POP, and the RIC products, typically deployed at the customer premises. The ETX intelligent demarcation devices are used for Ethernet transport over fiber. RAD also leads the industry in pseudowire solutions for transporting TDM streams across Ethernet networks.
