Korean Government Agencies Rely on RAD for Mission-Critical Transmissions

Fire-Disaster, Police, Public Defense and Administrative Departments in Kyonggi Province Use RAD's MAP System to Send Voice, Video and Data

Application

Multiservice Access

Challenge

Real-time transmission of voice, video and data to 150 sites

Solution

DXC multiservice access nodes and Megaplex multiplexers transmit voice, video, fax and data in Public Defense, Fire-Disaster and Police networks

Benefits

  • Flexible and reliable

Protecting its citizens and saving lives are the main concerns of Fire-Disaster, Police and Public Defense personnel. In the Kyonggi province of the Republic of South Korea, members of these departments carry out their jobs with the help of equipment from RAD Data Communications. Due to the reliability and flexibility of RAD's multiservice access platform (MAP), it has become the standard communications equipment used by these government agencies, which need to respond to situations in real-time.

Continuing Success

In 1997, RAD and its local distributor, MACRO SYSTEM, installed DXC multiservice access nodes and Megaplex multiplexers to transmit voice, video, fax and data among Public Defense posts situated along the border. Based on the success of that project, the Kyonggi municipal government ordered an additional $2 million in MAP equipment for its Fire-Disaster and Police networks. These last two projects, completed in 2000 and 2001, respectively, comprise approximately 150 sites.

Word is spreading throughout Korea, and other
provinces are adopting the RAD solution for their
mission-critical operations.
Said Mr. Nam
MACRO SYSTEM

“Word is spreading throughout Korea, and other provinces are adopting the RAD solution for their mission-critical operations,” says Mr. Nam of MACRO SYSTEM. The municipal government of Kyonggi is currently considering adding RAD's ACE network termination unit to their networks, to establish a less costly link between sites.
