Optimux-25

16 T1 and Ethernet or Data Fiber Multiplexer

The Optimux-25 16 T1 and Ethernet or data fiber multiplexer can transport up to 16 T1 lines, high-speed data and Ethernet traffic over a fiber optic link, supporting point-to-point extension of multiple services from a SONET backbone as well as corporate connectivity. In addition, the Optimux-25 16 T1 and Ethernet or data fiber multiplexer offers a low-cost alternative to larger and more costly add-drop multiplexers or DAC units.

Providing extension over single-mode fiber or multimode fiber, the Optimux-25 T1 optical line multiplexer can multiplex aggregate bandwidth up to 25 Mbps up to a distance of 68 miles (110 km).

The Optimux-25 16 T1 and Ethernet or data fiber multiplexer can also be equipped with an SFP transceiver, redundant links and power supplies, for greater flexibility, reliability and fail-safe operation.

The Optimux-25 16 T1 and Ethernet or data fiber multiplexer provides a simple and cost-effective solution for transporting multiple T1 links and  high-speed data (V.35) or Ethernet, over fiber optic for distances up to 69 miles (110 km).

Flexible Ethernet bandwidth management, port configuration

The Optimux-25 supports up to 16 T1 channels, enabling the user to replace some of the traffic with high-speed data and/or 10/100BaseT Ethernet traffic.

A single 10/100BaseT Ethernet user port is optional. The bandwidth available for the Ethernet port can be adjusted in gradations of 6 Mbps. The configuration options are:

  • 16 T1 only
  • 12 T1 and 6.176 Mbps for Ethernet
  • Eight T1 and 12.352 Mbps for Ethernet
  • Four T1 and 18.528 Mbps for Ethernet
  • 25 Mbps for Ethernet only

The following fiber optical interfaces are available:

  • 1310 nm and 1550 nm laser for extended range over single mode fiber
  • 1310 nm and 1550 nm long haul for extended range over single mode fiber
  • Single mode over single fiber (WDM) option

Multiple Ethernet transmission options

Ethernet transmission utilizes a single integrated 10/100BaseT LAN port. The Ethernet port can operate in half or full duplex mode, and supports auto-negotiation and transparent VLAN forwarding. IEEE 802.3x flow control and backpressure are also supported.

The Optimux-25 16 T1 and Ethernet or data fiber multiplexer offers a modular, redundant power supply and secondary link options, enhancing system reliability. The optional secondary link provides backup using automatic switchover upon main link failure.

The Optimux-25 device transmits each of the T1 tributary channels independently. The T1 interface is 100Ω balanced.

To facilitate system diagnostics, the product features LED status indicators, AIS alarm generation, recognition and dry contact closure upon link failure. In addition, setup, control and diagnostics can be performed through a supervisory port using an ASCII terminal, Telnet host or Web terminal, or from an SNMP management station via the Ethernet port or the dedicated management port (Ethernet or RS-232).

The SNMP management application offers:

  • RADview for Windows environment
  • RADview for HP OpenView UNIX platforms

The product is available as a compact 1U-high unit for mounting in a 19-inch rack.
